Jeff Jones

Jeff joined the company in 2009, bringing 30 years of hospitality and marketing sales to serve PGmA clients in the U.S.A. and internationally. Jim joined The Golf Digest Companies in November 2002 as Vice President, National Equipment Director, overseeing alliances and partnerships with golf equipment manufacturers. In August 2004, he was promoted to SVP, overseeing the travel segment and involved in developing and maintaining strategic alliances with leading organizations in the golf industry, including the PGA Tour, GC and USGA. He also served on the Board of Directors for the National Golf Foundation from 2002 through 2008.

Peter Bonell

Peter honed his skills for assembling excellent teams by developing partnerships for Ginn with some of the premier minds in the industry. From Tee it up with Tiger to the Golf World Invitational, Big Break VII and CBS TV Rules of the Game with Golf Digest, Peter has motivated his team of marketing, sales, catering and convention services to “think outside the box” to produce results. Leveraging partnerships with the PGA, LPGA, Champions Tour, Nike Golf, Calloway Golf and industry leaders like Golf Digest, The Golf Channel, ESPN, MLB, NBA and more, Ginn properties have become the premier golf destinations in Florida.

Prior to joining the company, Peter was Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mohegan Sun Hotel and Casino in Uncasville, Connecticut, where he oversaw all marketing, sales and public relations efforts, business development, staff recruiting and development and budget facilitation. Prior to holding that position, Peter served as senior vice president of hospitality for Double Diamond Golf Resorts in Dallas, Texas, where he initiated business plans for new investor projects and created standard operating procedures for the entire organization, encompassing the five resort developments.

In addition, he has held the position of Vice President of Sales and Marketing at several luxury resorts along the east coast and in Colorado and Arizona, including the Broadmoor, Hershey Resorts, Colonial Williamsburg Resorts, Pointe Resorts and Indian River Plantation

Jeff Jones

During his three-decade career, Jeff has worked extensively with both domestic and international properties, developing and executing programs that provide immediate and long-term results. His focus has been on increasing meeting, leisure, business and golf segments to ultimately improve the rounds played and room nights booked at the properties.

Jeff’s clients have included Kiawah Island, Colonial Williamsburg, Saddlebrook Resort, Innisbrook Resort, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Walt Disney World Resort, Wyndham Rio Mar and Atlantis Paradise Island.

James Kahn

From 2000-2002, Jim held executive positions at Entrepreneur Magazine and Profile Publishing, where he was responsible for overseeing sales and marketing for various publications. He also served on the Board of Advisors for Book4Golf, a golf Internet company.

From 1986-2000, Jim worked at Golf Magazine Properties, a division of Times Mirror Magazines, and held several positions during his 14-year career with the company, starting as a salesperson and leaving as Senior Vice President, Group Publisher. Jim was also on the National Golf Foundation’s Board of Governors from 1996-1999.

In 1982, he held the position of Media Planner and then Account Executive for Backer & Spielvogel Advertising Agency. Jim began his career in 1980 as a Junior Account Executive at Vanguard Advertising.

Jim earned his B.S. in business management from SUNY Binghamton and currently lives in Great Neck, NY with his wife and two children. He carries an 8 handicap as a member of the Woodcrest Club in Long Island.

Rick Miller

Rick’s career began with Golf Hosts International, developers of Innisbrook and Tamarron Resorts in the late 70s. He held a variety of sales and marketing positions with the company, leaving Tamarron Resort in Durango in 1982 as Vice President of Resort Marketing. In 1982, he founded HRM Marketing, Inc., which continues to provide marketing support services to the hospitality industry and to develop advertising products such as advertorial columns in M&C Magazine. From 1983 to 2006, HRM’s Professional Development Group Division provided meeting management education to over 20,000 meeting planners.

Rick founded Carriage Trade Golf to represent clients’ interests professionally in the travel industry and to address the hospitality industry’s most lucrative, yet neglected market segment. Carriage Trade Golf, Inc. serves the needs of four categories of clientele:
  1. Individuals and small groups seeking exceptional golf and resort vacations anywhere in the world via its international golf tour operating division.
  2. Meeting managers seeking inspirational meeting sites, which include top-quality golf and entertainment options, via its convention and meeting placement operation.
  3. Companies seeking motivational travel incentives, as well as meeting and event planning, via its event management operation.
  4. Golf-specific destinations requiring expert marketing and sales consulting service.
Rick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing from Missouri State University. He and his wife have four grown children and reside in Kansas City, where his community involvement includes the Chamber of Commerce, Blue Hills Country Club Board, Ronald McDonald Houses of Kansas City Board, CVB Advisory Board and service club participation.

Karen Moraghan

Karen’s media relations strategies have enhanced profits and visibility for her clients and propelled Hunter Public Relations (HPR) Special Events to the forefront of the worlds of hospitality and golf.

She possesses expertise in positioning and opening properties—including six hotels and 24 golf courses since starting her career. Over the past 15 years, HPR has designed and implemented some of the nation’s most momentous special events, including the Reunion of U.S. Open Champions at the 100th U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. The following day, HPR staged the memorable and emotional Payne Stewart Memorial Service on the 18th green of Pebble Beach Golf Links.

For the USGA’s Centennial Celebration, six major events were executed, including star-studded galas in New York and Los Angeles, the launch of a book and film series, a traveling exhibit, a national media campaign and the creation of a speaker’s bureau and member outreach program.

Prior to forming Hunter Public Relations Special Events in 1990, Karen was Vice President of Marketing for the Pebble Beach Company, where she spearheaded global marketing campaigns for The Lodge At Pebble Beach, Pebble Beach Golf Links, The Inn and Links at Spanish Bay, Spyglass Hill and Del Monte Golf Courses and scenic 17-Mile Drive.

She started her career with Sheraton Hotels in the southwest region public relations office, based in Los Angeles. Karen is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, serves on the boards of the Upper Raritan Watershed Association and the University of California, San Diego Alumni Association. She is a national committee member for Special Olympics Golf and a member of the Diversity Task Force of Golf 20/20, an industry-wide initiative designed to grow the game.

Raised in both Michigan and California, Karen holds a B.A. degree from the University of California, San Diego. She resides in Long Valley, New Jersey, with her husband, Tim Moraghan, noted USGA Director of Championship Agronomy.

Bob Prewitt

Bob᾿s enthusiasm for golf is both personal and professional. As a marketing expert, Bob works with some of the country’s leading golf destinations. Current and past clients include Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Pebble Beach, Callaway Gardens, Ocean Reef Club, The Sagamore, The Woodlands and Sunriver Resort. Under his leadership, Dana Communications has created innovative marketing strategies to drive business for golf as effectively as for other products in the hospitality industry. With wide-reaching contacts in the hospitality field, Bob also has an exceptional ability to forge strategic partnerships that benefit Dana᾿s clients.

Bob᾿s 30-year hospitality marketing career has garnered many accolades for his personal achievements and for his company᾿s creative work. Recently, Dana’s campaign for Kiawah Island Golf Resort, which integrates compelling social networking features, received a Gold Magellan Award and two Silver Awards from HSMAI. Bob is a past recipient of the Mel Hosansky Award for Distinguished Service from the International Association of Conference Centers, for whom he is a marketing advisor. He also advises the Convention Industry Council and the Society of Wine Educators.

As a member of the Performance Golf marketing Alliance, Bob contributes his marketing expertise in the golf travel field and shares his astute analysis of trends and developments in PGmA’s annual seminar and report.

Relentless in his personal pursuit of the game, Bob carries an 11 handicap and is on a mission to play all of the top 100 courses in the world. He is a resident of Lambertville, NJ, and the father of four grown children. Prior to launching his marketing career in the California wine industry, Bob received a B.A. from DePauw University and an M.A. in public policy management from Stanford.

Bernard W. Schraer

M&C produces several golf events each year including the M&C Invitational and Marketplace, Castaways and the Pharmaceutical Meetings Invitational.

Bernie has over 20 years of sales, marketing and management experience in media. Prior to joining Meetings & Conventions, he spent over 7 years with Travel Weekly, the leading U.S. publication for the retail travel industry. There, he held various positions including Advertising Director, National Account Manager and Regional Sales Manger.

Prior to joining Travel Weekly, Bernie held several sales and management positions with Bergen Record newspaper in Hackensack, NJ and the Ocean County Reporter newspaper in Toms River, New Jersey.

Bernie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Georgian Court University.

Tom Fitzgerald

In 2000, Colana Sports Group (CSG) developed The JetBlue Challenge golf program, partnering with JetBlue Airways, Callaway Golf, Conde Nast, PGA Ambassadors and the Club Managers Association of America to deliver a program that allows CSG business partners unprecedented access to the members of the private club community. The JetBlue Challenge continues to be utilized as a “sampling program” for premium resort properties as a way of driving revenue to them as well as building brand recognition. CSG has worked to foster strong, long-lasting relationships between JetBlue Airways and all of its’ resort partners.

The JetBlue Challenge has become the fastest-growing event enhancement solution, based on the attractive value proposition it presents to golf tournament organizers. CSG has developed a turnkey program that is revolutionizing the Golf/Travel industry.

Walter E. Galanty, Jr.

Currently (AIM), Walt performs meeting management, golf tournament, sponsorship development, sports marketing and marketing services for a variety of clients. These meetings and programs are held throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. These services include everything from site inspection and contract negotiations to complete meeting, sponsorship, golf tournament and exhibit management.

Established initially as an association management organization, AIM’s current thrust is maintained in a balance between management, meetings and sports marketing. This diversification allows AIM to bring expertise from all avenues of management to its clients. Walt is only one of seven (7) Certified Tournament Directors (CTD), a certification of The National Association of Golf Tournament Directors, a extremely prestigious designation. He recently was featured as the cover story in Golf Business (July, 2008). The article dealt with the ways golf courses need to work with meeting and event organizations to market their facility.

Walt Galanty has spent a great deal of time in the industry and is a highly regarded speaker at industry events. He has been a featured speaker at the Nevada Governors Conference on Travel & Tourism. He has been asked to give marketing and meeting presentations before the Professional Convention Management Assn. (PCMA) annual meeting for over five years. He has been a member of the Golf Advisory Committee for Successful Meetings Magazine for eight (8) years. Walt was named by Business Week, as, “... The countries foremost authority on corporate golf.” And has been on the national advisory committee for the White House Conference on Small Business, the U.S. Department of Commerce Industry Sector Advisory Committee on Small Business, The VMI Alumni Association and The Small Business Legislative Council where he served as chairman for two years. AIM was recently named as the ninth largest meeting planning company in the Washington, DC area and Walt Galanty was also named as a “key executive” in the same publication. He has received awards from The Small Business Legislative Council (SBLC), The National Association of Golf Tournament Directors (NAGTD), and WNVT-TV and currently serves on The Advisory Board of The Eagle Bank Bowl (US Football).

Walt is originally from Detroit, Michigan is married and has three children. He has a bachelor’s degree from The Virginia Military Institute and a master’s certificate degree in public relations from American University. When not working he enjoys golfing and spending time with his family.
